
Visiting Romania is like visiting the 17th century: You’ll see ancient towns and farming villages, fortified churches, the fortress of a mythological vampire, Dracula, dense forests and snow-capped mountains – all of which make Romania a different kind of travel experience; one’s that’s as fascinating as it is varied. During our bike tour of the Carpathian Mountains, we’ll ascend by cable car to fantastic height, then roll down stunning single track trails, crisscrossing alpine meadows and ride beneath stunning peaks. We will traverse the pathways that lead to the impressive Carpathian range and pedal through the lofty areas around the ski villages of Poiana Braşov and Sinaia – both of which boast great bike paths and a lively local biking scene, cable cars and tracks down the ski slopes. We’ll also visit magical Saxon villages and their wooden churches.
Today you will ride along the Piatra Craiului Range, along undulating forest trails in the Dombowitciaora Valley, through quaint, traditional villages. We spend the night in Sighisoara, an old 16th century city.
A gentle bike route through charming landscapes and past Saxon villages. past the unique fortified churches. Today we will experience the timeless life of the Romanian mountain people, we lunch with a local family in their village home. Toward late afternoon we’ll begin our hour and a half drive to the ski village of Poiana Braşov.
Cable car to the top of the Postavaru Range. Ride along single track paths, passing through a thick forest, before climbing to a height of 1,800m. We then descend down a track to the Historic city of Braşov, where we’ll conclude our ride at one of the pubs nestled among the ancient alleyways.
After breakfast we take the cable car for a last bike ride through Poiana Braşov. Return to the hotel to disassemble our bikes and head for Bucharest, where we take an evening flight home.
