High Atlas Traverse
This thrilling mountain bike adventure is perfect for those looking for a challenging off road tour in Morocco. The High Atlas is one of the most unspoilt and beautiful regions and one of the best areas for mountain biking. On this biking adventure we take on some challenging climbs and superb descents. Our route starts from Imilchil to the striking Toubkal Range. This is a continuous bike traverse, with the route following, remote paved roads, mule tracks and rough, narrow piste roads between the many picturesque Berber villages. This is a high level mountain bike route for confident and experienced riders only.
Brief Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive Marrakech
When you arrive in Marrakech you will be met by our local guide, who will help with a short transfer to your hotel in the Medina.

Day 2
A free day in Marrakech
We have a day out to explore and absorb the exotic atmosphere of Marrakech, either on foot or on your trusty steed.

Day 3
Drive to Imilchil (2119m)
With the jeeps loaded with food, bikes and bodies we start heading eastwards. Stop for lunch in a small town at the foot of the mountains. We arrive in Imilchil, where we stay in a gite tonight alongside the stunning Imlil lake.
Day 4
Imlil (1740m) – Anergui (1291m)
Our morning starts from a road climb to the Tislit Pass and then a river crossing. After our lunch we join the piste road to the village of Tasraft. We finish our day with a huge road descent to our welcome gite.

Day 5
Anergui - Zawiya Ahancal
The next challenging day begins with an epic ride and Melloul river crossings; climb alongside 'the Cathedral' and ascent through pine woodlands. We eventually descend to the valley floor and ride towards our gite in Zawiya Ahancal.

Day 6
Zawiya Ahancal via Ait Bou Guemez - Abachkou
Today is the first climb is up to the Tizi-n-Lissi and then onto the shorter ascent to Tizi-n-Tirghist. After lunch, we make a long descent into the Ait Bou Guemez valley with the final descent and climb to the village of Abachkou.

Day 7
Abachkou via the Tizi-n-Rouguelt - Ichbbakene
We ride to a small village where put the bikes onto mules and climb up to Tizi-n-Rouguelt. After lunch we head off for the huge descent on a challenging singletrack. We arrive to our large gite in Ichbbakene.

Day 8
Ichbbakene via the Tessaout River - Tamzrit
After meeting some locals for mint tea and photos, we set off on the undulating jeep trail to Tamzrit. We follow the Tessaout river downstream to the river crossing. From here we climb to the Tizi-n-Fedghat and finally drop down to the village of Tamzrit.

Day 9
Tamzrit via Tizi-n-Tamda - Tighza
Today is a day of options of riding, walking or driving. We have an awesome day that starts from ascent to Tizi-n-Tamadla. After we drop down onto the valley floor and pass a high mountain lake. After lunch we descent to the lower valley. If you fancy putting bike and boots aside then we can offer round trip in the vehicle via Ouarzazate.
Today is a day of options of riding, walking or driving. We have an awesome day that starts from ascent to Tizi-n-Tamadla. After we drop down onto the valley floor and pass a high mountain lake. Tighza - Azgour
Today we head off on a paved road with a quick stop at the Kasbah of Telouat. After we climb to the Tizi-n-Tichka and take lunch in the shade of a nearby pinewood copse; ride down to the village of Afra. Eventually we descend to the village and our gite at Azgour.

Day 11
Azgour via Ourika - Oukaimeden
After breakfast we follow the 4x4 trail, which takes us into the market town of Ourika. From here we board our support vehicles for a drive to the bottom of the vertical mile ride. The route climbs up to the ski station and military base of Oukaimeden. Stay for a night in the Club Alpin Francais Hut.

Day 12
Oukaimeden - Tizi-n-Addi - Imlil
As our trip draws toward its final destination the route takes us across our highest pass the Tizi-n-Addi. We ride down toward the village of Tacheddirt, where we make a climb to the pass of Tizi-n-Tamatert and then we head down to our penultimate destination to Imlil.

Day 13
Imlil - Marrakech
On our final day we ride across the flats that surround Marrakech. After we regroup for the last ride together into the red walled city, the souk and then into the great Djemaa-el-Fna, where we enjoy this old city before getting our flights back home tomorrow.
