Peak Lenin (7134m)
The Lenin Peak is one of the most popular and the second highest 7,000m peaks among the high summits of Pamir. It is a considered one of the most straightforward and so it is a very popular high mountain Peak, however like all big mountains, it is not to be underestimated due to the extreme altitude involved while climbing this Grande and Majestic Mountain. The route is not a technically difficult one and is carried out with our guides (both experienced local guides and our own English speaking fully qualified Mountain Guides), who will lead the group through the acclimatisation program and the everyday requirements to the 7134m summit. Your health and safety is paramount to us as we make the climb with fixed ropes and/or roped up. The success or failure of your expedition is dependent on personal fitness, weather and of course the ever pressing altitude.

Trip Requirements

Visa Requirements
This tour may require two visa applications as there two options to get to Osh in Kyrgyzstan. The first option is cheaper: Fly into Tashkent in Uzbekistan, where you will be met by us, Direct Adventures. The next morning, we travel overland and cross the border into Osh Kyrgyzstan. This route is very common and requires a double entry visa for Uzbekistan (one entry for the airport on arrival and the other for the return journey across the border), but does not require the infamous 'Letter of invitation' (LOI). The second visa is for entry into Kyrgyzstan, which does require the LOI. The other option is more expensive and takes a little longer (both take about two days!) This route takes us via Moscow, then another flight south to Bishkek. A visa and LOI are required for Kyrgyzstan. There is often issues with the authorities in Moscow as the official word is that a visa is not required to transit from one terminal to another within the airport confines (which we have to do), however the customs authorities seemingly for many years have not got that fax/email/post/notice etc. and can make life quite difficult until a small payment of some such is made! This not always the case. Once in Bishkek, an internal flight takes you to Osh. We will be at Bishkek to meet you and help you transfer again, hopefully with no hand outs this time! For all the official requirements go to http://www.advantour.com We can sort your visas out for you, but if you would prefer there are other passport companies who will do this as well.
Kit List
This Mountain is very challenging and requires suitable gear and clothing that will help your success or failure to summit the lofty 7134m summit. Technical high altitude boots that can be used with crampons and clothing that protects from extreme cold, wind and possible driving snow. We will provide you with a comprehensive list and guide apon the booking of this tour.
Rental Options
We have the essential hardware for you to rent: crampons, ice axe, harness. However this mountain requires a high level of commitment and we would expect our members to illustrate suitable signs in understanding that having the necessary personnal gear and attempting to summit a 7000m peak requires a good understanding of the terrain and things to come.
Local Customs
The Kyrgyz people are friendly and fascinating. It is a country of different faces that we recognise throughout Asia and Europe. The history is fascinating as from recent times it played a part in the great game but also it boasts ancient threads going back long before Christianity or Islam, where the ancient tribes worshipped fire and the sun. Summiting Peak Lenin is an incredible journey but the people, food and culture of this region really add to that experience.
